Valentine's NOTD with MUA love hearts polishes

I got the chance to try out two of the MUA Love Hearts nail polishes, and what better way to showcase Love Heart themed goodies than with a Valentine's day inspired manicure?  It's just a little nod to the day - I did think about drawing little hearts, but I couldn't find my nail art tool and I'd probably be rubbish at drawing hearts free-hand anyway!

So as you can see, I started with a peachy pink base using MUA I <3 U.  Once it was fully dry I stuck on a nail guide to each ring finger and then painted a coat of the deep pink U R Fab.  I waited very patiently for this to fully dry - a good 15 minutes - before carefully peeling away the nail guide sticker.  It peeled some of my base colour away with it, so I had to touch that up.  Not sure how to stop that from happening?  Practice makes perfect I guess!  Not as neat as I would have wanted, but not so bad I wanted to take it off.  I got the nail guides really cheaply from this ebay seller.

I'm really pleased with these polishes - they only cost £2 each!  The pale shade I have needed three coats to get the opaque kind of coverage I like, but the darker one only needs one or two.  There are 6 shades all together and I'd also like to get the blue and lilac ones.  They are available now from MUA's online store now and in Superdrug from mid February.

Did Valentine's day inspire anything about your look today?

    1. They could come in handy for nail art at some point like if you wanted to do rainbow nails! I agree though, not the greatest colours! xx

  8. I really like those colours together - UR Fab is a lush shade! I read somewhere that someone stuck the sticker on the back of their hand while they painted the base coat to take the harshness of the sticky away! x

  9. Pretty! To stop the base from peeling and to make a cleaner pattern, you actually need to remove the sticker RIGHT AWAY after you've painted the top color. Dont let the sticker stay on for the top color to dry. Trust me, it works great! Also, the adhesive from the sticker might be getting into the base color, which makes it pull up. And you can actually make the adhesive less sticky and easier to remove from the nail by sticking it on the back of your hand once or twice before putting it on the nail... hope that helps!
