L'Occitane Shea Butter Ultra Rich Face Cream review

Following on from my post about the L'Occitane Ultra Gentle Moisturiser which you can read here, this is the Ultra Rich Face Cream from the L'Occitane Nourishing Shea Butter range.  I've been using the Ultra Gentle moisturiser in the morning and Ultra Rich face cream at night - the latter being my favourite as it feels so luxurious to apply.

Doesn't it just look so inviting in the jar?  All perfect and whipped, taunting me to stick my fingers in it, which I promptly did after snapping the photos.  It's a perfect night cream to me as it's rich and substantial as you can see in this swipe on my arm.

To me a night cream should be heavy duty - you're going to be asleep, so no need to worry about shine, it's time to nourish the skin.  I have combination skin, but have learned that skimping on moisture upsets my dry patches and doesn't help the oily patches anyway.  I think it's important to use a good moisturiser over night to plump and re-hydrate the skin - especially as I'm now wary of the evil little lines that want to make my face their home.

As with the Ultra Gentle, the Ultra Rich moisturiser contains shea butter (25% in this one), but this one isn't fragrance free, so you do get a subtle hit of that gorgeous shea butter scent.

Overall I can't fault this moisturiser as a night cream for me, although it would be too heavy for me in the morning because of my combination skin.  I've been using it every night after cleansing with my Clarisonic - it sinks in really easily and my skin laps it up and it's been feeling pretty parched after all the cold weather.

The Ultra Rich face cream costs £29.50 for 50ml and you can buy it from L'Occitane here.

Have you tried this?  What's your favourite night cream? (tut tut if you don't use one!)

    1. Yes that's a good point I didn't mention in the review - I've hardly made a big dent in this in three weeks, so I'm sure I have a good couple of months left before I hit the bottom :)
