NOTD jelly sandwich glitter nails with OPI and Nails Inc

These are my nails from earlier this week, inspired by a photo I saw on instagram with the tag 'jelly sandwich'.  I was intrigued, so I did a little googling to see what it was all about and found out it's a name for a nail art technique of layering a glitter polish in between two coats of a fairly sheer jelly type polish.  Well I just had to have a try, so I grabbed OPI Rainbow connection for my glitter and Nails Inc South Molton Street, which usually takes three coats to achieve a full opaque finish, and decided that would be my jelly.  Here's what happened.

It's a pretty cool effect don't you think?  It's totally changed up the look of OPI rainbow connection and taken it from a blinging Christmas appropriate type polish, to something really fresh and girlie for Spring.  I'm really glad I chose South Molton Street for this, it's a perfect subtle Spring pink and has turned the glitter some gorgeous pastel shades which remind me of cupcake sprinkles.

Just for reference, here's an old Instagram snap of mine to show you what Rainbow Connection usually looks like when not in a jelly sandwich -

I think I've found a new obsession here and can't wait to try this effect out with some other polish combinations.

Have you seen this technique before or tried it out?
