My entry for the GHD ultimate holiday hair competition

I have no shame in admitting that I'm a bit rubbish when it comes to hair.  I can manage the basics, nothing fancy!  But, when I heard about the competition GHD are running together with Beauty Junkie in London, it seemed like it would be fun to have a go on this rainy Sunday afternoon.

The aim is to create the Ultimate holiday hair style.  I've gone for the kind of thing I would do with my hair in the evening on holiday - something that doesn't need to much time or effort, but keeps my hair off my neck for hot nights, and hopefully looks pretty too :)

This was quite easy to do, and something I would definitely be able to recreate quickly and easily on holiday.  As this is a GHD competition, I'm going to talk you through how you would recreate the look using GHD products.

Start by roughly drying your hair with the GHD Air hairdryer.  Spritz on some of the GHD Style Straight and Smooth spray and brush through using the GHD paddle brush while blow drying.  I think rough drying is best on holiday as if it's really hot, you don't want to be standing in the heat of the hairdryer for ages getting all sweaty.

Once dry enough, use GHD straighteners to give some lift at the roots at the front for a little volume.  Next gather your hair up leaving a little section at the front (you can use a section clip to hold this while you work on the rest) and roughly throw it up into a loose bun.  Fix with kirby grips to keep it in place.

Brush through the front section you left out, spritz through with the GHD Style Straight and Smooth spray and then swipe the hair through your GHD straightener using a twisting motion to create a soft, bouncy curl.

Finish with the GHD Style Final Shine Spray all over to give a little gloss and to tame any fly-aways from the messy bun, and a pretty flower clip.

What do you think?  Would you wear your hair like this on holiday?

The GHD products I've referenced are the GHD style and protect set, the GHD Air hairdryer and the GHD styler.
