pürminerals foundation in blush medium - review

I've always been a liquid foundation girl and I really can't remember the last time I tried a powder foundation, but I have heard lots of good things about mineral powders, so I was keen to give one a try.  This is the *pürminerals 4-in-1 pressed mineral makeup in the shade blush, and I also tried out a pürminerals brush.

The colour was a great match for my medium skintone but I found using this foundation alone didn't give enough coverage for me as I'm used to a much heavier foundation - my usual is Estee Lauder double wear. I also found that it clung a little to any dry patches that I had and could look a little cakey in some areas.  Despite those issues, what I did notice is how it really evened out my skintone in a way that my usual foundation doesn't, so I decided to see how I could make this work for me.

In the images above I'm wearing a liquid foundation and concealer and I've used the pürminerals foundation over the top.  It does a great job at mattifying my skin and gives a really even result which I love.

If you prefer a lighter coverage and don;t have any dry patches this is a great foundation, but for me I'm definitely going to continue using it in conjunction with my liquid foundation as it gives me a pretty much flawless result.

The foundation costs £24 for 8g and comes in a sturdy mirrored compact which traveled really well with me on my recent trip to Canada as it closes really securely.  The makeup brush is the one designed to go with this foundation - the chisel makeup brush - and that costs £13.   For me the brush is not as soft as I'd like and it's a little small.  I like to use this with a big fluffy brush - I know I should really be working it in with a smaller brush like this one but I'm just lazy and want to be able to get my makeup applied faster, so I've been using one of my usual foundation buffing brushes and it works really well to give a smooth an even finish.

The pürminerals range is sold at Marks and Spencer.

The photos of me wearing the makeup were taken in daylight by a window, even though there's a light on in the background.  And that chintzy wallpaper is not mine - I was in a hotel room!

Have you tried mineral makeup before?

  1. Not too big a fan of the casing of the product but I really like how it looks on you. Brush looks great too.

  2. I'm always so scared of using powder foundations as I too like full coverage foundations! Nice review :)

  3. I wear powder foundation sometimes but I agree it doesn't give me the full coverage that I like.
