Keeping makeup on my oily skin is a challenge at the best of times, so when faced with a day outdoors in temperatures of over thirty degrees, a new plan of attack is necessary. My usual favourite foundation - Esteé Lauder double wear - is far too heavy for super hot weather, so it has to be switched up for something lighter which will still give me good coverage. I'm finding the best way to achieve this is a layer of fake tan (being bronze always makes me feel more skin confident and means I'll use less foundation), a smothering of MUA's matte perfect primer, a few dabs of NARS' radiant creamy concealer (honey) and a sparing layer of MAC's studio fix fluid (NW22) for a matte finish. I top that little lot of with a liberal dusting of the new *Gosh BB powder in 04 which adds an another boost of matte plus some extra coverage.
With my base done and dusted, quite literally, the finishing touches are super simple - what's the point in spending ages on elaborate eye-makeup that's only going to slide the minute I go outside anyway? I have oily lids, so always struggle keeping shadow and liner in place, so here I just skipped them both and whacked on some gorgeously fluttery Katy Perry cool kitty lashes, which give my eyes plenty of definition in place of my usual mascara and liner combo. I can't bring myself to skip blush ever, so here I've used my favourite MAC feeling flush, and my brows, as usual, are filled using colours from the Look brow perfect palette.
Finally to give my basic heat-busting look a little something something, a slick of the *Bare Minerals Marvelous Moxie lipstick in fly high over my holy grail lip balm - Nivea vanilla macadamia lip butter. Okay blinding sunshine and sweat-inducing humidity, I'm ready!
Here's a closer look at the Bare Minerals Moxie lipstick in fly high - this is my favourite colour from their new shades - a lovely cool pinky lilac. The formula's really creamy and not drying, but the lipstick bullet doesn't melt in the heat like some others in my collection - MAC and YSL creme lipsticks are particularly prone to a melt-down in my experience.
I have several other make-up weapons at the ready for fighting shine in the heat, so I'll probably do another post on all of my recommendations next week - if it's still hot! The lovely weather has me changing up my products and reaching for brighter colours no end, and it's making me want to shop! I particularly have my eye on the Dior limited edition cheek cremés everyone's talking about and the new shine edition lipstick shades from Bourjois which are just about to come out.
