L'Oreal's Elvive Smooth & Protect Aqua Serum is very light and has a thin consistency - it feels much more like a thick water than most serums which would be a bit more like a runny gel. The thin consistency makes it really easy to apply without overdoing it, although as it's so light it doesn't weigh my hair down even if I accidentally apply too much. It says it's enriched with 'keratin-polish' and can instantly smooth each strand of hair leaving it polished and smooth for up to 24 hours.
The serum is meant for unruly fine to normal hair - my hair ticks two of those boxes and this really suits my damaged lengths and does a fab job of smoothing them down in a way that oils can't without making my hair feel heavy or making it look like there's a lot of oil in it. You can use it on wet or dry hair, and as it's also a heat protectant I tend to do a bit of both, using it before I blow-dry and to finish. I've not really been bothering with straighteners because the result I get with this is sleek enough, but if I do whip out the ghds, I get a super sleek finish if I've used this serum.
If I buy a serum I usually go for an old favourite, which is the John Frieda Frizz Ease Thermal Protection serum, but I actually prefer the Elvive aqua serum, and it's a bit cheaper and you get a bigger bottle - bonus!
