My blog gets me involved in some pretty fun things from time to time and stuffing my face with cake while checking out a new skincare brand certainly comes high on my list of favourites. Although I was pretty much in a cake coma from a glorious afternoon tea spread at the Charlotte Street hotel in London, I managed to stay awake just long enough to learn about the Antipodes brand...
Antipodes is a 'Scientific Organic' brand from New Zealand, They specialise in natural and organic products that really perform. meaning that they focus on performance lead products as well as making use of beauty natural and organic ingredients. All of their products have cute little spiritual names and pretty packaging inspired by the natural ingredients used in the products.
Antipodes' newest launch is their Delight hand and body cream. It's an extra moisturising cream which contains macademia nut oil high in omega 7, avocado oil and marigold flower oil. It's quite light in consistency and absorbs quickly into the skin with no sticky residue and the pleasant slightly floral scent is subtle and not at all overpowering. I can't see myself using this one as a body cream as I tend to prefer a really thick body butter, but as a hand cream this is a lovely little luxury that I'll be keeping on my desk at work to help my chapped winter hands.
I also got to try out the Grace gentle cream cleanser which contains avocado, maigold flower and vitamin E and is suitable for sensitive skin. I love cream and balm cleansers as they tend to replenish rather than strip your skin whilst removing your makeup and impurities.
A little of this cleanser goes a long way as it's so lovely and creamy and it works really well to remove all traces of makeup. You can either remove it just with warm water, or you can get a muslin cloth or flannel involved for a 'hot cloth cleanser' style experience, which is what I prefer to do. After using this my skin feels comfortable, supple and soft with no redness.
Joyus is a night-time serum which helps restore collagen while you sleep to repair ultra-dry and sun-damaged skin. It's made with Himalayan goji to deliver up to 19 amino acids to replenish protein at a cellular level and it also contains red raspberry seed oil blending with New Zealand blackcurrant, hibiscus flower, kiwi oil and a berry fragrance. It smells as gorgeous as it sounds and it's one of those products that a real pleasure to use. Since I got into facial oils I find them to be one of the most luxurious and relaxing parts of my skincare routine - they actually make me look forward to taking my makeup before bed!
The serum goes on really easily and has a very silky texture for massaging into the skin and it immediately makes my skin feel plump, nourished and smooth.
