Beauty: Tarte blushes have finally arrived in the UK!

Today I'm talking about something I've loved for ages, but haven't really featured in much detail here before.  It's the Tarte Amazonian Clay 12 hour blushes - these used to be so hard to get in the UK that it seemed silly to bang on about them on my blog.  But... now that they're available to us via both Sephora and QVC, I thought it was time to chat Amazonian Clay...

The blushes were the first Tarte product I tried - I bought the shade Blissful - the single in the image above - when I went on holiday to the US.  There was a lot of hype around the clay blushes at the time, so I was really excited to get one even though they seemed relatively expensive at around $28 including tax.  I spent a while wondering why I didn't like the blush as much as I'd expected to - it wasn't as pigmented as I'd heard and it was quite hard to pick up enough colour - but since I've tried other shades, I've found that either it's just an issue with the shade Blissful, as it is a slightly lighter colour than some of my others, or maybe I got one from a bad batch.

Because my first experience with Blissful wasn't amazing, I probably wouldn't have bought another blush from the Tarte range had they not brought out this great palette.  It was one of the Sephora Christmas products last year and I really liked the look of all five of the shades, so I decided to give Tarte another go.

I'm so pleased I got this palette as I now understand what all the raving was about.  All of the colours here work really well - no issues with pigmentation like I had with Blissful, and they're all really nice colours.  I find myself using this palette so much and I've not even made a dent in any of the colours yet.  Because it's a palette and I have all of the colours looking at me side by side, I'll quite often mix two of the colours to get a shade that seems to work with the makeup I want that day.

Blissful | Crave | Dazzled | Darling | Dollface | Park Avenue Princess (bronzer)

I've swatched Blissful really heavily on the left to show what it can build to with a bit of effort, and then the colours in the palette left to right - the last colour in the palette is actually a bronzer, which is a nice addition to the palette and I use this both as a bronzer or mixed with one of the blush colours.

QVC are now selling a selection of Tarte makeup and they stock five blush shades at the moment.  If they sell well then I hope they'll bring over more of the shades from the US.  They're selling a colour called Flush which I really like the look of - it's a pretty lilac pink and it may well be the next Tarte blush to join my collection.  Also if you're thinking about making a Tarte purchase, I really recommend the Tarte Amazonian clay full coverage foundation - it's my current favourite and the brush is amazing.

You can but Tarte blushes from QVC at £23 each and you can also now order them online from Sephora.

  4. I'm really tempted by Tarte but I dunno if I can justify the money when I can't test it in person beforehand

  5. I'm really interested by what you said about your experience with the Blissful blusher. I have experienced exactly the same with my blusher in Exposed. A friend sent me two other shades & they have both been extremely pigmented - from one extreme to the other! Xx
