Nails: Models Own Sweet Shop scented nail polishes - review and swatches

I love an exciting new Models Own launch, and this one is particularly sweet!  Following on from their range of fruit scented polishes, Models Own have now released five sweet shop favourites with co-ordinating colours and fragrances - yum!

The colours I've tried out are Liquourice Allsorts, Fizzy Cola Bottles and Gumball and they all smell exactly the way you'll remember from being a kiddie choosing your penny sweets.  Liquorice Allsorts has the strongest scent of the three I have and if you're a liquorice fan you'll absolutely love it.  My favourite is the Fizzy Cola bottles, which doesn't have such an overpowering scent, but it still smells like the real deal.  And finally gumball - I never liked those sweets so I wasn't entirely sure what to expect this one to smell like - to me it smells like those foam bananas, so maybe that's what gumballs smell like too?  Either way it smells really good, and it's probably the most pleasant scent of the three to have on day to day.

As usual with the Models Own scented polishes, I'm always impressed with how long the scent lasts even after washing your hands or applying top coat - top coat dulls the scent a little, but you can definitely still detect it, and it stays around for a couple of days.

On the nails (they're a bit stumpy - I had two major breaks last week when casually opening a cupboard and a drawer!) the polishes are all of the usual great quality you get from Models Own - really opaque and perfect in two coats.  Gumball is a lovely bright pink which I'll probably get the most wear from, especially as it's summer.  Fizzy Cola bottles is the one I wasn't sure I'd like as it is essentially brown which is my least favourite nail colour!  But, on the nails and in daylight it is more of a minky nude shade and the gold glitter flecks in the polish give it a pretty edge.  Lastly Liquorice Allsorts is a lovely glossy black polish which gives excellent coverage.

There are also two more polishes in the sweet shop range - Rhubarb and Custard which is a raspberry red shade with glitter and pair drops, which is a paler pink also with sparkly glitter.  The polishes cost £4.99 each and are available now from Modelsownit.com, the bottleshops and Superdrug.

  4. Scented nail polishes sound so cool! I haven't had the chance to try any yet but I'd absolutely love to. Especially since the scent sticks around for some time. I only ever tried scented lipbalms and , well, that didn't go as well.
