There are five different makeup kits to choose from in the British Beauty Blogger for Marks and Spencer range, all with amazing packaging illustrated by Nuno da Costa, and I have two to play with...
Firstly, my favourite kit from the collection - it's a set of eight full size kohl pencils in a mix of different shades and finishes. You get a matte black and dark grey, a glittery black, a shimmery bronzey plum, matte navy, and shimmery mint, turquoise and pinky lilac. I really like the variety in this kit and they're all really wearable colours. Personally I'm not sure the mint and lilac will suit me - perhaps in the summer - but I'm loving all of the others.
The pencils are soft to work with and every colour has excellent pigmentation and shows up without the need for heavy pressure, and the pencils don't drag. The quality is so good for the £15 price point - not that I expected anything less from Jane!
The second kit I have is a really versatile palette made up of six eye shades plus a blush and a brush all contained within a pretty mirrored compact for £14.
The shades don't play it too safe - they're an interesting mix and you could create lots of different looks with these colours. I like that Jane's gone for a varied combination of colours rather than all bright, or all smoky. The white shimmery shade on the left makes a good inner corner eye highlight, and I love the next shade which is a shimmery, rosy peach. The cranberry-bronze shade is a great colour for autumn and that's followed by three deeper and more smoky shades in greys and black.
All of the colours have a really strong pigment even with light swatching, and they're really smooth to apply with minimal fall out and no chalkiness. The blush is a lovely coral shade which I imagine Jane has chosen because it would suit most people and adds a freshness and lift to any look. Nice work Jane!
