There are many things I love about the lead up to Christmas, but one of the best has to be the multitude of amazing beauty deals, limited editions and gift sets tempting me around every corner. One launch I always have my
greedy beady eye on is the NARS holiday gift sets. This year's offering has not disappointed me, and I've already snapped up two of the kits for under my tree.
The NARS Virtual Domination cheek palette - let's just take a moment to appreciate it in its full and glorious beauty. I'm so happy about this palette for many reasons, the main one being that it doesn't contain NARS orgasm blush! Don't get me wrong, orgasm is a nice blush, lots of people love it, and I do have it in my collection as a blush single. But - do we really need to see it in every single blush palette ever? Clearly NARS took note of me moaning about last year's blush palette offering containing too many shades I already own, because there's no Orgasm in the Virtual Domination palette AND it contains two limited edition blush shades which I missed out on earlier this year from the Final Cut collection. NARS I'm virtually high-fiving you right now, you've done good.
I've seen a few whines about the palette including Laguna, but I love Laguna and although the argument is kind of the same as my issue with Orgasm blush, I'm going to be a hypocrite, because I love Laguna and you can never have too much of it. The blushes in the palette are Miss Liberty (highlighting blush), Sex fantasy, Deep Throat and Final Cut. I love the selection of pinky coral shades, they're what I most often reach for no matter what the season and I literally cannot wait for the inevitable Christmas day swatch fest I'll have with this whilst everyone else is snoozing through Love Actually.
The other NARS gift set I couldn't pass up is this lip pencil coffret called Digital World. I've become quite obsessed with the velvet matte lip pencils from NARS lately, and this set contains both velvet matte and satin finishes. For £32 I think this is such an amazing deal considering a full size pencil would set you back £18.
The shades involved are Torres Del Paine, Descanso, and Yu which are all satin finishes, and then Iberico and Cruella which are matte velvets.
Cruella is the only one I already own, and it's a gorgeous red, so I'm not too upset about that. Iberico looks like the shade I think I might not be able to get on with as I'm just not an orange person, but the other shades all look like stunners, especially the hot pink Yu.
The NARS Virtual Domination cheek palette and Digital World lip coffret are both exclusive to SpaceNK and cost £45 and £32 each. You can find the other gift sets available in NARS' Christmas collection for 2014 at Urban Retreat, Selfridges, and John Lewis.
