Following on from my initial taste of what Makeup Revolution has to offer (blog post here), I've now also had the opportunity to try out some of their eye and brow pen / pencil products, and some of them are serious rivals to the (far more expensive) options I usually go for.
As the name suggests, this is a double ended eyeliner pen which has a felt tip liner at one end and a kohl pencil at the other. I can't use liquid or felt tip liners on my water line, and would always use a pencil or kohl liner, and equally I can only use liquid on my upper lash line because nothing else stays put, so this is a brilliant two in one idea. The felt tip end had a sturdy, chubby nib which doesn't feather and creates a smooth line with an easy swipe. Also the kohl end is nicely soft and creamy so it doesn't drag on the eyes and even on my water line it's a true deep black.
Amazing inner eye brightener - £2.50
I've not used a nude pencil on my water-line for ages - I'd actually forgotten what a difference it makes in terms of disguising redness and making your eyes look brighter, bigger and more awake and he shade of this twist up pencil is perfect for just that. I did find that it was difficult to get the colour to show up on my water-line at first - my eyes can be quite wet, so I found it helped to dry the water-line with a tissue and to warm the nib of the pencil between my fingers. This is now a firm favourite in my makeup routine.
Awesome dual brow ultra brow arch and shape (dark) - £3.50
Another dual ended wonder, this brow pen includes a crayon type end and a liquid felt tip so that you can easily both define and fill your brows with one product. I'm not certain that I have this the right way around, but I've been using the crayon end to create a more defined edge and outline, and using the felt tip end to fill any sparse areas. It may seem a little scary to use a felt tip style product for this, but trust me you won't get those 'sharpie brows' - the product gives more of a wash of colour rather than a full on opaque line, and it looks really natural when applied. Personally the 'dark' shade is a little too light for me and I think the shade 'darkest' would suit me better of the four shades available, but it's an excellent product for the price and it's giving my Anastasia Brow Wiz a run for its money!
This is another dual ended eyeliner pen, and this one has a felt tip nib at both ends but in different thicknesses. The thicker end will create a bolder line whereas the narrower tip will provide a more precise, thinner line. You could use the thin end for daytime looks and reserve the thicker nib for night-time, or as I've found, it comes in handy to use the thinner end for lining the eye and the thicker end for a cat eye flick.
As I have seriously oily eyelids, the liquid liner in the Double flick and Kohl and Flick didn't stay put on my eyes and transferred onto my brow bone quite quickly - a problem I tend to have with any liquid liner unless it's completely waterproof. I've placed another sneaky Makeup Revolution order and have the Aqua Seal on its way to me, so I'm going to see if a little of that over the liners will keep them in place all day. I've also just spotted that Makeup Revolution actually have a waterproof liquid liner option, so that's on my 'next to try' list too.
Have you tried any of these products yet? What's your favourite eye liner?
