Last week saw yet another exciting new release from Makeup Revolution - a range of five amazing liquid lipsticks in beautiful vivid shades. I'm incredibly impressed with the formula, pigmentation and staying power of the Lip Lava liquid lipsticks, and they're only £2.99 each!
Considering the bargain price, I'm rather surprised by the quality of the packaging of the lip lavas. Each comes in a squeezy tube containing 12ml of product, they have a sponge tip applicator and come boxed in pretty self-coloured packaging.
All five shades have intense pigmentation and the texture of a fluid lipstick with a glossy finish. They feel really comfortable on the lips, but stay in place for hours and the sponge tip applicator is just the right size and shape for an easy but precise application straight from the tube.
Tremor, Shockwave and Firestorm are my favourite shades, but all five are beautiful stand-out shades.
The design of the lip lavas is fairly similar to the Too Faced melted liquid lipstick range, so I compared them to the ones I have in my collection to see if I could find any dupes for the textures and colours. Tremor and Melted Peony are exact dupes in colour, and are also similar in texture, with the Makeup Revolution version being glossier in finish. There's no dupe here for Melted Fuchsia, although if I owned a few more of the Too Faced melted lipstick shades I imagine there might be a couple more with similarities - I think it's likely Shockwave and Melted Violet would be close in shade.
Despite the price of the Too Faced melted lipsticks (£19) making them a more high-end purchase, the quality of the Makeup Revolution lip lavas really is comparable. Too Faced has a wider range of colours to choose from, but in terms of the look when I apply the pink shades tremor and peony on my lips, I really can't tell the difference between the two brands.
The Lip Lavas from Makeup Revolution are available now at £2.99 each.
When I got a email about these I was instatnyl like I want these in my life. :)

They're so amazing for the price - possibly the best budget lip buy I know! I wore the purple-y one today - love it x
DeleteLovely review... Everyone seems to being mad for these at the moment. I'm always wary with glosses as I hate my lips feeling sticky. The shade choices are lovely though and you really can't beat their price! xxx

Thank you! I don't think these are sticky, they have more of a lipsticky sort of feel, but with a bit more movement x
DeleteI love the look of these and of course they sound amazing. Tremor has to be my favourite shade so definitely need to pick it up soon x
ReplyDeleteBeauty with charm
I think that's the one I'll wear the most actually x

I think it's going to be the most popular as it's easy to wear and will suit most people - it's that perfect pink and nude combo!
DeleteThese sound so good, it's good to hear that they are nearly as good as the Two Faced ones! May have to pick a couple up!

I bought these the moment they launched as I couldn't resist! I bet they'll add more colours soon too. I haven't had a chance to try them yet beyond a quick application during swatching, but they feel amazing and I looooove Tremor xx
