Sunshine, good wine, tasty food and great friends - the perfect cure for a stressful week!

So today's the last day of August, and it's grey and raining outside.  Is summer over already?  I hope not, but if it is, I'm pleased I made the most of the sunny evening on Friday.  It was the perfect time to get the girls round for wine, food and much needed catch up after a really stressful couple of weeks for me.

KIKO power pro nail lacquer in red, camelia and fuchsia - review and swatches

KIKO have recently brought out a new range of nail polishes called Power Pro, which promise a salon quality finish that lasts up to 7 days.  I've never got 7 days out of a nail polish ever, so I decided to put these to the test and wore each colour on my nails until it chipped.

ESQIDO Companion long lasting bond lash glue and little black lashes review

You might have seen that I previously reviewed some of the ESQIDO false eyelashes before in this blog post, but at that time, Esqido didn't make their own glue, so I just used one I already had at home.   Now they've launched the Companion long lasting bond lash glue, they kindly sent it over for me to try out, together with a different pair of lashes, which are called Little black lash.

London food review - Chick'n'Sours, Kingsland Road, Dalston

I can't tell you how many times I've gone for dinner with the best intentions of taking snaps for the blog, but ended up bottling it at the last minute.  I'm one of those paranoid sorts that always thinks everyone else is looking at me, judging what I'm doing, so I get rather self-conscious taking photos out and about.  But... as you can see, I've finally gone and done it!  Until now I've only properly shared one foodie adventure, which was my vist to Street Feast in Lewisham, and that felt a lot easier as it's such a casual market type environment.   Chick'n'sours itself is pretty laid back too really, plus the food is too good to go undocumented!

Summer beauty at Debenhams - YSL Le Teint Touch Eclat, Make Up For EverPlexi-Gloss and Red Herring sunglasses

I was worried summer had already come to an end until we got lucky with the sunshine this weekend, but in any case I still have my holiday to look forward to (30 sleeps!) and I'm off to Florida - the sunshine state!  Amid the manic over-planning of where we'll be going, what we'll be doing and even what we'll be eating every day of our holiday, I'm also finding time to obsess over my holiday wardrobe and makeup selections.  Debenhams have sent me some products from their latest ranges which are perfect for summer, so naturally they'll be going straight into my suitcase!

First up I have the illuminating Le Teint Touche Eclat foundation from YSL, which has a lovely texture and finish for a summer base.

Scentsy Goldsmith warmer review and Scentsy bars in Yuzu Dragon and Peony Petals

I love candles, and have a collection which borders on ridiculous.  I particularly like to collect ones from Yankee Candle, and Bath & Body Works.  I also love Neom, and have some other expensive candles that are practically just for show and never to be burned! What can I say, I like my house to smell good!

When I heard that my boyfriend's sister-in-law Jen was working with a wax melt home fragrance system called Scentsy, I was instantly intrigued, but wasn't really sure why I'd need a Scentsy warmer when I have so many candles already, plus wax tarts that go into a tealight warmer.  I'm pleased I gave it a try, because now that I've tried Scentsy I totally get it, and already have my second warmer on order!

Zoeva Cocoa Blend palette review and swatches - another must-have neutral palette?

When I want makeup that's difficult to get hold of, the hunt really fuels my need to make it mine.  When that that makeup sells out, a full on obsession ensues.  Cue considering paying well over the odds on eBay, frantically refreshing websites at crazy times of night and setting alarms and reminders in my phone!  The Zoeva Cocoa Blend palette can be a tricky purchase to make, but now I have it in my hands, I can confirm that the chase was totally worth it - it's an absolute stunner.
