Summer beauty at Debenhams - YSL Le Teint Touch Eclat, Make Up For EverPlexi-Gloss and Red Herring sunglasses

I was worried summer had already come to an end until we got lucky with the sunshine this weekend, but in any case I still have my holiday to look forward to (30 sleeps!) and I'm off to Florida - the sunshine state!  Amid the manic over-planning of where we'll be going, what we'll be doing and even what we'll be eating every day of our holiday, I'm also finding time to obsess over my holiday wardrobe and makeup selections.  Debenhams have sent me some products from their latest ranges which are perfect for summer, so naturally they'll be going straight into my suitcase!

First up I have the illuminating Le Teint Touche Eclat foundation from YSL, which has a lovely texture and finish for a summer base.

Just as you might expect from a foundation inspired by YSL's famous Touch Eclat pen, this foundation gives a radiant, dewy finish.  As I'm generally a lover of matte, full coverage foundations, this is a bit of a step change for me, but, my skin has changed in recent months too.  My combination skin is beoming less oily, and my drier patches are increasing, so I'm finding I can branch out an try other finishes.

The Le Teint Touche Eclat foundation has a gel formulation which glides really easily onto the skin and blends beautifully - I've been applying it with a flat top buffing brush.  I have the shade B50, which is a really good colour match for me, and looks really natural.  It's a bit paler than most of the foundations I own, so that tells me I often buy the wrong shades.  My boyfriend's comment when I first wore this was that I looked less orange and not as old... I'm sure there was meant to be a compliment in there somewhere!

The finish is a light to medium coverage, which evens out my skin well, and I've been pairing it with a good concealer to give me extra coverage where I need it.  It leaves a really natural, soft finish to my skin, and I've been adding powder on top only where I need it, which is on my t-zone.

I know it really doesn't matter, and it's quite an odd thing to say about a foundation, but I love the scent of this product.  It's a really fresh, summery smell that makes me think of holidays!

I've been complimenting my dewy summer skin look nicely with this stunning hot pink lip gloss from Make Up For Ever.  I tend to opt for liquid lipsticks over lip glosses for the pigmentation and staying power, but the Plexi-gloss formula is a whole new generation of lipgloss.  There's nothing flimsy or watery about this gloss - the colour's intense and the coverage is totally opaque.  It applies like a liquid lipstick, and leaves a super glossy finish which sticks around for hours.  Unlike a liquid lipstick, it's not drying, and it looks and feels moisturising.  The only slight drawback is that it has a sticky finish, but that hasn't bothered me as I love the finish and staying power.

The shade I have is 209, which is a cool-toned hot pink which is perfect for a sunny day, and makes your teeth look whiter! I'm so impressed with this and can't wait to grab it in a few more shades.  Make Up For Ever plexi-glosses are available at Debenhams and cost £16 each.

And to finish off my summer look, I'm accessorising with these cute animal print cat eye sunglasses from Red Herring at Debenhams.  Cat eye shapes always seem to suit me, so I generally stick with those, but these are a bit different as they have a metallic trim across the top which gives them something extra.  I love a pair of designer sunglasses when I can afford them, but I'm always fearful of damaging them, so at £16 these are great value, and perfect for every day.

What's your favourite summer beauty product?

  1. I can't believe I'm yet to try out this foundation, I dunno why I haven't yet to be honest because the dewy, radiant formula sounds like something I could get along with. Wow that lipgloss really packs on the pigment & I love the shade! You look gorgeous x

  2. I haven't tried this foundation, I think it wouldn't suit my combination skin very well, but I might actually get a sample to try it. That lipgloss has serious pigmentation and it looks great on you! Nothing screams Summer more then bright lips :) x

    1. I think try a sample if you can, as I'd still describe my skin as combination, although I now have more dry that oily areas xx
