Kiehl's has become one of my most trusted skincare brands, in particular I love the Ultra Facial Cream (I'm on my fourth tub!) and Midnight Recovery Oil. I think one of the reasons is that Kiehl's is a brand that doesn't rely on gimmicks, crazy packaging or clever marketing tricks - the brand is all about the science, research, and ingredients which really work. I love popping along to Kiehl's launches because everyone is so passionate about the brand, and I always come away having learnt something new about how our skin works from Kiehl's dermatologist, Dr Geyer.
The latest launch from Kiehl's will have Midnight Recovery Concentrate fans jumping up and down, because it's a similar oil that's been developed for daytime use. It's called Daily Reviving Concentrate and it's designed to fight daily skin stresses and fatigue, helping to prevent your skin from looking tired and haggered by 5pm! Over time the concentrate combats dullness, dehydration and rough texture - all of which I'm certainly keen on, as it's not just fine lines that can make us look older, it's the all round appearance of the skin.
The new formula includes with ginger root which is an anti-infammatory and anti-oxidant, sunflower seed oil to smooth and hydrate the skin, and tamanu oil to keep moisture locked in all day long. The oil has a pale yellow colour, and feels light on the skin, with a lovely warm sort of smell which I think comes from the ginger root.
Now as much as I enjoy using Midnight Recovery Concentrate at night, I was sceptical about using an oil for daytime as I have combination skin. The Daily Revival Concentrate is to be used before your moisturiser, so I was concerned I'd be left with a shiny face and that my makeup would slip and slide on top. Kiehl's pre-empted that concern, and showed us a study with side-by side comparison photos demonstrating that skin is left looking no shiner after applying the oil than it did before. I really do trust Kiehl's, but even so, I still had a sinking feeling the first time I tried this, but it's true - when I apply the oil it sinks straight in to my my skin. I had no issues with applying my usual products and makeup over the top, and it didn't affect the longevity of my makeup either - success!
Kiehl's Daily Revival Concentrate is the perfect daytime partner for Kiehl's Midnight Recovery Concentrate. I'm very careful about which products I apply in the morning because my combination skin likes to play up and I want my makeup to last, whereas at nighttime I can get away with trying out all sorts of treatments. It means my skin is probably missing out during the day, on getting some much needed support and nourishment, so adding the Daily Revival Concentrate has made a huge difference for me already. My skin feels much more comfortable and hydrated all day long, and I'm already starting to notice some improvements in smoothness too.
Daily Revival Concentrate launches this September but join the waiting list now at dailyrevival.co.uk and you'll be in with a chance to win a full size bottle ahead of the launch date!

Yep, we no longer need to be scared of applying an oil in the daytime!
DeleteI love the nighttime concentrate so this sounds amazing! x

They're perfect partners :) x
DeleteI still having tried the Midnight Recovery oil even though it's on my wishlist. I have normal skin that tends to get quite dehydrated but even I would be worried about wearing an oil during the day, so I really need to try it for myself. Great review x

Ooooh Alina you must! Daily Reviving concentrate is perfect for deydrated skin - you're fine as long as you apply just a few drops x
DeleteThis sounds great and perhaps something that would really benefit me as I have such dry skin!

My skin's combination and I've seen great results, but I think it would be even more effective on a really dry skintype x
DeleteThis really does sound great I'm a great fan of the Midnight Recovery Concentrate. This sounds like a good product to use around the autumn / winter so it's fitting that they are launching this in September....can't wait xx

Even in summer I've been fine using this if I stick to just a few drops, but you're right, I think I'll really see the benefit of this in autumn / winter when more driness sets in! x
DeleteI'm always hesitant to use oils on my skin, as I have a sensitive combination type skin that doesn't take well to oils. I'm really curious about the Midnight Recovery Concentrate though...
